Who We Are

The Stark Museum of Art houses one of the nation's most significant collections of American Western art and is located in the heart of downtown historic Orange, Texas. The works of art focus on the stunning land, dramatic people and diverse wildlife of the American West. Paintings, sculptures, print and rare books interpret the West from the 19th century frontier artists to 21st century contemporary artists. The W.H. Stark House is an 1894 Queen Anne style home located in downtown Orange, Texas. The 14,000 square foot house stands as it did at the turn of the 20th century, with 15 rooms containing the Stark family's original furnishings and decorative art. Today, The W.H. Stark House tells the story of the early beginnings of Orange and the lumber dynasty that once occupied the banks of the Sabine River.

What We Do

The Stark Art & History volunteer team supports the Stark Museum of Art and The W.H. Stark House in its mission to educate, enrich, and inspire our community. At the Stark Museum of Art, volunteers are instrumental in helping with free family arts programs, cataloguing primary source documents, and reviewing works in our collection. At The W.H. Stark House, volunteers lead and assist free tours of the home and help out during our free reading programs and open houses.
