Volunteer Opportunity: Summer Reading Palooza Presented by United Way of Mid & South Jefferson County
Help us spark a love of reading this summer! Join us in supporting our Early Literacy Initiative: Summer Reading Palooza, an exciting program designed to help kindergarten and first-grade students continue building their reading skills over the summer break.
What’s Summer Reading Palooza? Summer Reading Palooza is a community-powered effort to promote early literacy and learning retention during the summer months. By giving young readers access to books they can keep, we empower them to explore stories, grow their vocabulary, and stay on track for the upcoming school year.
What Volunteers Will Do:
- Set up book stations at participating local schools
- Organize and display books
- Assist students as they browse and select 4–5 books to take home
- Share in the joy and excitement of kids discovering stories they’ll treasure all summer long
Where & When: Events will take place at participating elementary schools across Mid & South Jefferson County. Dates and times will vary—sign up to receive specific details.
