Each year, National Read Across America Day is celebrated on March 2nd, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. The annual event is part of Read Across America, an initiative designed to encourage reading in children which is fostered through the schools. United Way of Orange County is jumping on the bandwagon and hosting our own event over the course of March 2nd - 6th and March 9th-12th. In celebration of our 100-year anniversary we are pledging to read 100 books in conjunction with our Y-Reads program though YMCA. Through our partner agencies we are able to reach all five of our ISDs.
Below you will see 1-hour shifts throughout the 2 weeks. You will be reading 2-3 small books to a group of children in the Y-reads program. The books will be provided for you; we just need your voice and energy to encourage the children that reading can be fun!
